Hello and Happy Thanksgiving to all of my American readers out there!
We spent most of the day today at my grandparents' house to celebrate the holiday with food and family and friends of family and the great outdoors.
World's Best Pumpkin Pie, Which May Be An Ice Cream Topping Tomorrow |
We were in charge of pies, cranberry sauce, deviled eggs, and macaroni + cheese. My mom and I started on everything yesterday morning, and we finished just before leaving for the party at around 10:30 this morning, an adventure during which I made my very first ever batch of deviled eggs.
All of the food, still pretty and intact and not ravaged. |
Aren't they lovely? We had a ton of food. A ton. 2,000 pounds. And, believe you me, it was good food. Go back for thirds and dessert kind of good.
Post-Lunch food |
And of course, in true Thanksgiving spirit, we ate a lot, and talked a lot, and complained a lot about how full we were, and then waited a while.... and then went back for second dessert a few hours later.
The Desserts Table |
And there was enough to take home for dinner (and maybe lunch tomorrow). Yay!
And for forty days and forty nights they dined on pumpkin pie. |
And, yes, I did have it for dinner later, while I watched Heroes on Netflix and did not sleep for Black Friday.
Lucky me, I have tomorrow off too, and I'm really excited about sleeping off my turkey-drowse and working on some projects I've had to push back because of school. Can I get a Hallelujah for free-time, somebody?
Anyway, as much as I like Thanksgiving, I really relish the days after, when I can finally listen to Christmas music without feeling guilty about it, and buy Christmas presents for everyone.
'Tis the season!
How does your family celebrate Thanksgiving (or Harvest Festival for my British readers, or any other celebration of gratefulness out there)? Feel free to leave a comment below!
Thanks for Reading,
Riley
