Many apologies for falling off the face of the planet the last few days. Schedule's been full, lots of work's been done, even a few social functions have been attended. Life has resumed for the time being.
In any case, I've spent all this week introducing myself over and over and over again. My teachers this year have taken more interest in me and my hobbies than ever before. (To put this in perspective, my math teacher this year wanted to know my favorite food. I'm not certain my math teacher last year even had my email address.)
Which, albeit often awkward and repetitive, is really very nice and thought-provoking. You learn a lot about yourself when the objective is to condense the essence of your personality to a list or a picture.
The little weirdo himself. |
For example, I've learned that the majority of the comedic moments in my recent life have been in some way related to my dog: Tucker. Whether he's chewed an entire pack of gum, or he's just being his normal serendipitous little self, he always comes up.
And that I am the messiest crafter ever.
And that I am overly fond of polka-dot sweaters, because that's the only thing I ever describe/depict myself wearing.
I assure you 100% that I haven't gone and changed my name this week. My Spanish teacher simply calls me Mercedes. I don't argue. |
And that, when it all boils down to it, I identify more with the creative side of my brain, and that's what I tend to describe first to people, whether the situation is creative in nature or not.
And I'd guess that's why most of my introductions begin with,
"Um, hi. I'm Riley. And I like to draw and I like to write and some other things."
Oh, yeah. Social grace at its finest.
But that's just me.
If you had to describe yourself in less than 20 words, what would you say?
-Riley (or sometimes Mercedes)
