Going Bananas

Postage for 1 banana: $1.95

Last Tuesday began an adventure a week and a day in the making.

That's right. Fake bananas in the mail.

My mom found the idea on this lovely blog , and decided that we simply had to try to test the rule: any object that weighs 13 ounces or less may be sent in the general mail.

It ended up saying "From 1 fruity family..."

Each banana weighed in at an ounce and a half, and cost two bucks to mail. So, we sent out five of them: three to local friends and two to faraway places.

The first- one of the local ones- arrived the day after at its intended location: my best friend's house.
The second, to one of my partners-in-crime just down the road.
The third to my mom's best friend.
The fourth (which arrived only half of what it once was) to my aunt 300 miles away.
And the final one, which arrived today, went to another partner-in-crime; strangely enough, one of the closer destinations.

The best part? If we made anybody's day, it was the postal worker at the desk last Tuesday.

What's the weirdest thing you've ever sent in the mail?
