Nuts

Typically, I try to maintain a healthy lifestyle: I eat three squared a day with fruits and veggies and try to keep from eating junk foods except on special occasions. Getting a dozen doughnuts? I think that's a pretty good reason for a special occasion, don't you?

If you hadn't heard, Krispy Kreme is in the midst of celebrating its 75th birthday this year. In the spirit of this celebration, they've been heavily marketing their new "Birthday Cake" doughnuts: a classic glazed- iced in one of three flavors and covered in sprinkles- filled with heavenly, sugary icing.

Two things get me when it comes to sweets: Birthday Cake or Red Velvet.
So, I was an itsy bit excited to be able to try this charming little thing. And, take my word for it:

It was good.

Really good.

Afterwards, I washed it down with a raspberry-filled and glazed- an old favorite- and a New York cheesecake, which I'd never had before. And, even after hitting the treadmill hard last night, I still woke up with a doughnut hangover.

Oh well.
